Because our team includes three general dentists and a full-time oral and maxillofacial surgeon, we can handle nearly any emergency in-house — including surgical extractions and trauma that other offices would refer elsewhere while you wait in pain.
What to do right now
Knocked-out tooth: Time matters most. Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently without scrubbing, and try to place it back in the socket. If you can't, keep it in milk and call us immediately — teeth re-implanted within an hour have the best chance of survival.
Severe toothache: Rinse with warm salt water, take over-the-counter pain relief as directed, and apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek. Don't put aspirin directly on the gum — it burns the tissue.
Broken tooth: Save any pieces, rinse with warm water, and cover any sharp edge with dental wax or sugar-free gum until we see you.
When to go to the ER instead
If you have facial swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or a possible jaw fracture, go to the nearest emergency room first. For everything else dental, we can almost always treat you faster — and far more effectively — than an ER can.
